On this International Nurses Day, we celebrate all our wonderful nurses at Mastercall who work tirelessly to deliver exceptional care to all of our patients.

We caught up with 3 of our nurses to find out just what made them become a nurse and what it is that makes them love being a nurse at Mastercall.
Here'[s what they had to say…

Name: Tina Ademokoya

What made you go into nursing?
Nursing wasn’t the first option for me but I knew deep down in me I wanted to be around people and care for them in my own little way, so I decided to go into hotel and catering management, after all it’s all about hospitality just in a different form.
After some years I realised I wanted to do more for people. I had a ‘lightbulb moment’ and decided to look at nursing. Nursing has given me the opportunity to be around people, care for them and make a positive impact in their lives. Nursing has given me that opportunity to be around patients at their most vulnerable or difficult moments. 21 years as a nurse and I do not regret it for a single day!

What do you like about being a nurse at Mastercall?
-Making a difference to patients’ life/health
-Always being available during those hours where patients least expect to find
   someone
-Flexibility and availability of different services that meets patients’ needs.
 -Career progression is awesome.

What made you go into nursing?
Nursing is both a profession and a passion, you tend to have an innate calling to want to help others, and assist those stranded in a moment of need. Thus, being a nurse is extremely rewarding, providing you with the tools, skills, and confidence to make a difference.
I personally trained in tv and radio production, have worked as an assistant sales manager, been a receptionist, worked in retail, held roles in site clearance for demolition projects, and even worked with primates in Bolivia to name a few jobs!
Ultimately, nursing brings fulfilment; at the end of a nursing shift, you go home content to have helped someone, and pragmatically supported people in need – nursing provides a sense of accomplishment and self-worth, where other careers failed and solely proved to provide a wage and monotony (apart from the monkeys in Bolivia!).
I am extremely proud to have become an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, with no two days being the same in nursing. Nursing is a changeable, fast-paced, challenging career, but also an extremely rewarding career, whereby progression within the role is endless. Whether you choose to progress clinically, managerially or educationally, there are endless opportunities. More-so, it provides you with an international passport to gain a breadth of life and working experiences!

Whilst, also offering staff a broad exposure to expand knowledge and experience new skills and opportunities; thus, work life is not monotonous, and varied. Ultimately, Mastercall have a belief in individual skillsets, acknowledge potential, and will support motivated persons to achieve their potential, develop and progress. I am an example of Mastercall’s vision to invest in their staff, joining Mastercall as a triage nurse, and now working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

What made you go into nursing?
I can’t recall ever not wanting to be a nurse!  I may have played with the idea of becoming a teacher or interior designer (?!?!) but always came back to nursing and all my GCSE and A-level choices were guided by this.  I contemplated joining the Royal Navy to undertake my training but instead started at University of Manchester, did most of my placements at ED and knew it was something I was going to love doing and have never looked back.

What do you like about being a nurse at Mastercall?
I think the best part of nursing at Mastercall is the team I work with every day – clinical and non-clinical.  I love the variety of patients, cases and challenges I encounter whilst there is a great sense of care and pride in what everyone does, with the patient at the centre of it all.  I feel supported and encouraged to develop my own knowledge and skills in order to do the best for my patients and that is what I went in to nursing for.
